I stayed here on an exchange in September 2005. I traded my 2 Bedroom RID for a week here and got first a Studio and then 2 days later they upgraded me (at my request upon check-in) to a large 1 Bedroom for the rest of my week. I found the location to be nice, it was centrally located and although I flew in from Las Vegas to Santa Maria alone and rented a car, I had no trouble finding the place and getting around was easy. A friend met me halfway into my stay and one of the many highlights of our trip was dinner at the Mount Madonna Inn. We also spent an entire day at the Sycamore, a Spa and Retreat Facility nearby the entrance to the Avila Beach road. For a nominal fee we attended a yoga class, had hour-long massages, and spent time in the wonderful outdoor hot tubs in the mineral waters. Lunch was included - it was terrific! One day I drove down to Santa Barbara to shop on State Street, about 90 minutes' drive but well worth it to me. The pool here was nice, September is a good time to travel if you want fewer kids around (we don't have them and don't want to deal with them on vacation) and it was quiet and nearly all adults this time of year. This was a pleasant stay, not just because the location was great, but because the staff at this resort was very accomodating and friendly and they really went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. I would return here again happily!!

1 BED ROOM-- WITH KITCHEN,FRONTROOM AND ONE BATH WAS VERY LOVELY EXCEPT THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED IN BEDROOM AND A LOUSY SLEEPER IN FRONT ROOM THAT NONE OF US WANTED TO SLEEP ON (4 OF US, ONE COUPLE) iF THEY HAD A BED THAT CAME OUT OF WALL IN KITCHEN/FRONTROOM AREA- WOULD HAD BEEN PERFECT OR 2 BEDS IN BEDROOMS. THE VIEW WAS BEAUTIFUL IN FRONTROOM AND PATIO BUT LITTLE ROOFS WERE ON EACH SIDE OF THE WINDOWS THAT BLOCK SOME OF VIEW.

we traded Laguna Surf for this resort and are so gald we did.

It far exceeded our expectations, the units are lovely and Avila is close to so much. We will have to come back in order to partake of everything this area has to offer.

The units are quiet inside, the halls fairly noisy from the children.

Stayed for a week 6/11-6/18/04 in a 2 bdrm unit. Wonderful views, helpful staff. Lots to do in the area. The kids enjoyed the numerous other youths at the resort. Pool area quite noisy. Room was comfortable. The resort seems to dwarf the little town of avila beach.

I have owned at San Luis Bay Inn since the day it opened when it was a Glen Ivy resort.

There is a considerable difference between the older units and the new Sunterra ones. The Sunterra 1BR is much smaller and only has 1 BA. The older units are preferable if you cn get them.

The San Luis Bay Inn is one of the nicest resorts we have ever visited. We used to go there when it was a hotel and have been there twice since it has been a timeshare. Within walking distance you have golf, a couple of safe beaches, a fishing pier and some very nice restaurants. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the units is spectacular.

San Luis Bay Inn is a lovely timeshare with beautiful surroundings. It has something for everyone. The golf course is excellent, the beach protected and the restuarants close by all have wonderful food and selections. Our youngest family members, who are two and three years of age enjoyed the children's park situated next to the beach as well as the children's pool.

I traded a two bedroom gold crown ocean view unit for a studio which was definitely not worth the exchange. The studio was tiny and the walls "paper thin". The unit was next to the stairs and I could hear people going up and down the stairs all night. The unit had no vents for cooking and other than the paint, the unit was "dated". The air conditioning was noisy. I had to shut it off and sleep with the window open. I got a partial view if I leaned out of the tiny balcony. As I attended the orientation breakfast, the ceiling was leaking. My mattress was also pretty worn and I left the resort with with a sore back. I HAD FLASHBACKS OF STAYING AT A MOTEL 6. Service was mediocre, amenities were below average. I've been to a number of resorts throughout the world and this has been by far, the worst. I just wonder how this resort received a gold crown rating and got such rave reviews. BEST THING ABOUT THIS VACATION WAS ENDING IT EARLY!
