I stayed here on an exchange in September 2005.
I traded my 2 Bedroom RID for a week here and
got first a Studio and then 2 days later they
upgraded me (at my request upon check-in) to a
large 1 Bedroom for the rest of my week. I
found the location to be nice, it was centrally
located and although I flew in from Las Vegas to
Santa Maria alone and rented a car, I had no
trouble finding the place and getting around was
easy. A friend met me halfway into my stay and
one of the many highlights of our trip was
dinner at the Mount Madonna Inn. We also spent
an entire day at the Sycamore, a Spa and Retreat
Facility nearby the entrance to the Avila Beach
road. For a nominal fee we attended a yoga
class, had hour-long massages, and spent time in
the wonderful outdoor hot tubs in the mineral
waters. Lunch was included - it was terrific!
One day I drove down to Santa Barbara to shop on
State Street, about 90 minutes' drive but well
worth it to me. The pool here was nice,
September is a good time to travel if you want
fewer kids around (we don't have them and don't
want to deal with them on vacation) and it was
quiet and nearly all adults this time of year.
This was a pleasant stay, not just because the
location was great, but because the staff at
this resort was very accomodating and friendly
and they really went out of their way to make
sure our needs were met. I would return here
again happily!!
